God’s Sovereignty By Mike Andrews                 Have you ever sat down and looked out across the great landscape of God's creation? If not, I highly suggest you do some time it's breath- taking, because it helps put things into perspective when it comes to the attributes of God......especially His sovereignty. The word sovereign means chief or highest; supreme in power; superior in position to all others. God is Spirit, self-existent, immutable, changeless, infinite, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient and holy. When we become God’s children, we tend to play God and look at the sin and all the terrible things in everyone around us especially in our Christian brothers and sisters. We tend to always ask the question, ‘Why doesn't the Lord do anything to His disobedient people?’ or, ‘Why doesn't He see what his people are doing in the world that He created?’ The answer for that is not found in human wisdom for the heart is terribly wicked. John 5:17-30 “I don’t see any God up here” a famous quote that was never said by Yuri but accredited to him.  April of 1961, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human to travel into space. Peering through the window of his spacecraft, Gagarin was reported to have made the comment, “I don’t see any God up here.” [NOTED] Yuri’s colleague and good friend, later insisted that Yuri never made such a statement, though it came to be attributed to him, but was actually the result of a comment by Russian Premiere Nikita Khrushchev in an anti-religious propaganda speech before the Central Committee of the Soviet Communist Party: “At that time Nikita gave all the Party organizations the task to promote this propaganda and said: ‘Why should you clutch at God? But sadly many people today like this Russian dictator feel the same way down here on earth as well. “I don’t see any God down here either.”  Despite who said it….it’s a blasphemous statement to make!  Why do I say tha

Prov 31 “A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. “If Jesus were sitting here, He would say, ‘Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.’ Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, “Ryan, you be Jesus!” Being a mom isn't easy! John 5:1-9 Sin is a terrible, despicable, and deceiving thing that affects everything and everyone. Since the fall, this world has been under the curse of sin. Everything became tainted with sin and death through the rebellious act of Adam and Eve. Rebellion, disease, temptation, bitterness, lying, stealing, murder, adultery, pride, idolatry, lust, envy and the list is endless. Sin has affected every inch of this earth! As Galatians 3:22 says “But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin…” Paul wrote in Rom 5:12  says “Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned”  We come to another encounter that started with a man and ended in a discussion with a hostile religious group of leaders.  I want us to focus on the lame man who is by the pool this morning!  There is a lot we can learn from this man and the situation he is in, as it relates to our own lives!  What do I mean?  We have a ma
