Are You Praying?

Image
"It is not enough for the believer to begin to pray, nor to pray correctly; nor is it enough to continue for a time to pray. We must patiently, believingly continue in prayer until we obtain an answer. Further, we have not only to continue in prayer until the end, but we have also to believe that God does hear us and will answer our prayers. Most frequently we fail in not continuing in prayer until the blessing is obtained, and in not expecting the blessing. Those who are disciples of the Lord Jesus should labor with all their might in the work of God as if everything depended upon their own endeavors. Yet, having done so, they should not in the least trust in their labor and efforts, nor in the means that they use for the spread of the truth, but in God alone; and they should with all earnestness seek the blessing of God in persevering, patient, and believing prayer. Here is the great secret of success, my Christian reader. Work with all your might, but never trust in your work.

A Great example for Us Preachers

Image
The following Q & A with Voddie Baucham is from Unashamed Workman . 1. Where do you place the importance of preaching in the grand scheme of church life? I believe preaching is central to the grand scheme of church life (see Acts 2:42ff). Preaching/teaching sets the tone and the parameters for all other functions of the church. Our understanding of fellowship, evangelism, discipline, worship, etc., all arise out of our understanding of God’s word. Without sound preaching and teaching, all else will falter. Hence, preaching is of seminal importance in the grand scheme of church life. 2. In a paragraph, how did you discover your gifts in preaching? As a young college student, I went on a preaching mission with several teammates of mine. I was a relatively new believer and had no experience sharing God’s word. Two of my mentors guided me through the week and helped me discover my gifts in preaching for the first time. I felt as though something in me was awakened for the first time.

Thank You Lord for my Wife

Today is a very important day in the life of Mike Andrews. This is the second best thing that has happened in my life, next to my salvation 9 years ago. Today my beautiful wife Julie and I, are celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary! I thank the Lord everyday for giving her to me. To Him be the glory for His providence in my life... Because it involved Julie Lindstrom to come into it. Julie, I love you so much! You are everything to me! From the first time we met and more so today! She is the one who is love of my life. She is the one who prayed for her husband to be saved. She is the one who is always faithful. She is the one who keeps me humble. She is the one who listens to me ramble on about things. She is the one who isn't great at sports She is the one who tries her best at them though She is the one who watches hockey with me "Go Leafs Go" She is the one who likes to be around me!! Of all people She is the one who makes me frustrated sometimes She is the one who

The Valley of Vision

Image
Thou hast brought me to the valley of vision, where I live in the depths but see thee in the heights; hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold thy glory. Let me learn by paradox That the way down is the way up, That to be low is to be high, That the broken heart is the healed heart, That the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit, That the repenting soul is the victorious soul, That to have nothing is to possess all, That to bear the cross is to wear the crown, That to give is to receive, That the valley is the place of vision. Lord, in the daytime stars can be seen from deepest wells, and the deeper the wells the brighter thy stars shine; Let me find thy light in my darkness, Thy life in my death, Thy joy in my sorrow, Thy grace in my sin, Thy riches in my poverty Thy glory in my valley. The Weight I Carry

What are you carrying around today? Jesus said "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matt 11:28-30. STOP! What are you waiting for? Give it to Him.........

Treasure This Love Letter

Image
I was thinking this afternoon about how important the word of God is to me, and what it's done in my life to this present day! I'm still amazed and humbled every time I read the pages of scripture. Here are some things the Word of God has shown me in my life: my sin, my wretchedness, my lost state, my selfishness and pride, my self righteous attitude, my empty and broken heart, my complete helplessness, my true God the Creator of the universe, my hope of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ, my unmerited grace and mercy through His shedding blood, my death on the Son of God, my new life through His (Jesus) resurrection, my future with Him for all eternity, and my responsibility as a Christian to be obedient to His Word. Just to name a few.... I want to ask you a couple of questions that I asked myself this afternoon. How has the Word impacted your life? Does it play a key role in your decision making on a day to day basic? Does it convict you of present sin? Does it humble

Are You an Aroma or a Stench?

Image
I started reading in the Book of 2 Corinthians's last week, and I came to the second chapter where Paul said something that I found very humbling, and a privilege to be a Christian. He said "For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things ? For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ." 2 Cor 2:15-17. The Bible says we are the fragrance of Christ to this earth! Those around us at: work, school, our yards, on the streets, the malls, even at church!......... When a person (Christian, Born Again believer) is being faithful to the Gospel we are pleasing God with our actions and behaviour. Why? Because we are being obedient to the Gospel of Christ. He is the reason we live, exist

The Andrews Family is Moving to Moosehorn

Image
I wanted to share this wonderful news! The Andrews family is very excited to be moving to Moosehorn Manitoba. I accepted the call (the privilege) to pastor this wonderful church in rural Manitoba. We serve an amazing God! Praise Him for His providence in our lives. Will you please pray with me, that this community will be used faithfully for the glory of God. To Him be the glory for His working in and through our lives............. Eph 3:6-11 This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel. Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God's grace, which was given me by the working of his power. To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things, so that through the church the

Sovereignty of God in Habakkuk's Life

Image
The word sovereign means chief or highest; supreme in power; superior in position to all others. God is Spirit, self-existent, immutable, changeless, infinite, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient and holy. When we become God’s children, we tend to play God and look at the sin and all the terrible things in everyone around us especially in our Christian brothers and sisters. We tend to always ask the question, ‘Why doesn’t the Lord do anything to His disobedient people?’ or, ‘Why doesn’t He see what his people are doing in the world that He created?’ The answer for that is not found in human wisdom for the heart is terribly wicked. (Jer 17:9) (Job 25:6) (Ps 118:8) Charles H. Spurgeon says “Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength”. That statement is so true; I myself have the tendency to do just that. I worry and judge the earth and say “God do you see what your people are doing? Hurry up and do something about it!” We can learn a great deal

Satan's Meeting

PLEASE WATCH this video and ask yourself this question: How am I spending my time each and every day? Are you to busy for the Lord? We must make Him our greatest treasure above eveything. We must stay close to the Saviour, and as far away from Satan and his fallen angels (demons).. Glorify the Lord through your body as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable which is your reasonable service. To Him be the Glory!

Psalms 105:1 "Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make His deeds among the people! I asked myself the question this morning; what am I most thankful for? Here are some of the things that came to mind..... the ability to see, smell, hear, and walk. a healthy family who loves the Lord. a Christian wife who is absolutely amazing, and most of all is my best friend. the ability and the skills to work and provide for my family. the love of our families in Ontario. the Peck family (our best friends) for their love and dedication (passion) to the Lord. to be able to go to church freely, without the fear of losing our lives. the local church and their desire to know Him more personally through the written word. the forgiveness of sin through His Son's death and resurrection. the salvation that the Lord gives so freely to a lost and broken world. that He, (Jesus) saved my wretched life from eternal death. that He, (Jesus) saved my family from that same eternal death. the i

He Who has Clean Hands and a Pure Heart

Yesterday I was talking with a lovely pastor of 70 years. A man who is faithfully dedicated to the Word of God for all these years. So I had to ask this veteran preacher, how things were going in the church he was shepherding, and this is what he said "we not starting any fires anytime soon " His face looked so discouraged and tired. This is something I would have never expected from a man of God who has been preaching for 70 years. I thought he was going to say "things are wonderful! The church is on fire for the Lord", but that the furtherest from the truth. Sadly, I was looking upon a man as if I was looking into the eyes of the weeping prophet Jeremiah. My heart went out for this lovely man as he shared with me his burden This lovely pastor is absolutely right! We have lost the fire in our churches, our communities, and most of all our homes. What is the church (universally, locally) doing for the Kingdom of God? Besides: playing church, squabbling about incide

Vision Of You

Resting In God

O God most high, most glorious, The thought of thine infinite serenity cheers me, For I am toiling and moiling, troubled and distressed, but thou art for ever at perfrect peace. Thy designs cause thee no fear or care of unfulfilment, they stand fast as the eternal hills. Thy power knows no bond, thy goodness no stint. Thou bringest order out of confusion, and my defeats are thy victories: The Lord God omnipotent reigneth. I come to thee as a sinner with cares and sorrows, to leave every concern entirely to thee, every sin calling for Christ’s precious blood; Revive deep spirituality in my heart; Let me live near to the great Shepherd, hear his voice, know its tones, follow its calls. Keep me from deception by causing me to abide in the truth, from harm by helping me to walk in the power of the Spirit. Give me intenser faith in the eternal verities, burning into me by experience the things I know; L

What is Your Mouth Displaying?

Image
What is the one thing on our body that causes the most trouble? Think about this for a moment, what happens when: You stub your toe Pinch your finger Bang your head on something when you see someone who looks out of place (different) When your with friends privately or publicly When your at work each week When you make a mistake When you hear bad (upsetting) news When your in the car When your at the church When you are alone with your thoughts Jesus said " The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks". Luke 6:45. We read in James letter to believers scattered due to persecution about this very important issue of the tongue (James 3:1-12). Think about it for a moment usually 9 times out of 10 we end up using our tongues to get ourselves in to hot water, which means more trouble then we bargained for (we call this foot in mouth disease).

Have You Counted the Cost?

In today's world people follow someone or something that catches their attention. Basically we are followers of those who have gone before us, or those who have achieved what we want to achieve. You can tell yourself, that not me, but your only deceiving yourself. We live in a society that needs to follow others; we live in a society that wants to be like everyone else. Take for example: Music Clothing Hair styles Speech Sports Celebrities Automobiles Popular Religious Movements Causes ( wwf , peta , gay movement, feminist movement, and so on) Peers ( Co-workers, school mates, friends and neighbors ) Our post-modern world says "we must have what everyone else has" (We call this Jonesin ') We just want to fit in. Why? Because we love the attention of others; or we look to others for acceptance. The Question I have for you and I would be: Who are you going to follow? Is it going to be the World? Or Is it going to be the Lord Jesus Christ? Maybe to help you answer th

Help Wanted

Image
Are you looking for a job in your church? Because there is a problem that we are seeing more and more in our local churches, the lack of service in the body of Christ. Everybody has ideas (or opinions) on how to do things, or better yet, want things done in the church/community but don't want to help or do their part in the body of Christ. They would rather complain/gossip about it to others instead of helping and loving one another. Serving our local churches SHOULD always be a pleasure, not a burden, because of what Christ did for you and me. We always need to remember that Jesus, set the bar when He washed the disciples feet in the upper room. This action by a holy God should always humble us to do our very best towards one another and most of all Him. We must have that same servants heart as our Lord Jesus, in order to grow in our Christian walk. Listen to what Jesus said "....'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART , WITH ALL YOUR SOUL , AND WITH ALL Y
